I think it was when I was primary school that one of those vans came round with this fairly large python - must have been about 4 foot long and half a foot thick. I got to hold it over my shoulders, which brought on years of nagging my parents to buy one for ourselves.
I would find those insanely gigantic ones pretty bloody scary though, like this python I read about a year or two back that died trying to digest a fully-grown crocodile for instance.
