MC Frontalot - Nerdcore Rising (2005)

I have a soft spot for nerdcore because I am a geek and I enjoy hip hop, so combining the two seems like a win situation. I was always weary around Frontalot though because from his appearance it's easy to think that his stuff is more image based and the lyrics would be pretty hollow rap about Star Wars or something. How wrong was I! While there definitely are elements of that kind of song writing present, there are a lot of allusions and references that only a true geek would catch onto. The song "Goth Girls" for example really speaks to not only me, but a few other geeks I know who have this infatuation with goth girls, yet always come up short because they only want to date other goths. It's an interesting look at two sub cultures that share many parallels yet vast differences in the standard attire create a needless gap. Great album is all I can say.
