One name immediately comes to mind:
Johnny Cash - Nothing he's ever done remotely impresses me. Is heralded as a genius for having a song with horns in it. Furthermore, he's considered a legend and hero to youth for mumbling a Nine Inch Nails song because of his deep emotional performance.
****ing Hell, he literally sounds like a lonely drunk at a dingy bar mumbling the words to himself after 11:00 pm.
Plus, from what I've heard, most of what he has written for himself samey, hokey, cheesy, tacky, and uninteresting.
