Lantlôs -
.neon (2010)
It's funny that someone mentioned Alcest's new album a few posts up in such negative light. For the record I loved
êcailles de lune to death and I'm intrigued with this fusion of shoegaze with black metal. While I don't think it will do much to change people's minds about black metal, it's still cool that a genre so tight knit with purists, could be evolving into something so much more open.
Sadly though
.neon just didn't do it for me. The music was good, but it was a little
too shoegazy for me. When I see "metal" at the end of a genre or sub genre I expect to rock out a little bit, or at least once. While this album did deliver on a nicely atmospheric production, I just felt that everything else was sub par.
