Hahaa
That's so great! We're like polar opposites. I just love that the early stuff was so damn dark. I think the main thing is that the early pioneers really believed in what they were doing. I mean how many bands were dressing up in corpse paint and singing about satan? There's just a sort of feeling I get from listening to that stuff that I don't get much from the modern stuff.
Although Sortsind is relatively new (late 90s) and they're my absolute favorite Black Metal band. So it's not like I hate ALL new stuff and love ALL old stuff. There's just a certain feeling in some Black Metal records that I love. It's hard to say about the Post Black Metal/Shoegaze scene. I think the more open minded listeners (like me) welcome it. I could see if some didn't enjoy it but Noktu is an ass for completely disparaging a whole genre. I mean really. Shoe
gayze? Come on.
