Keep in mind who composed Gladiator's soundtrack:
Hans Zimmer. He has a particular style which has been very influential. And also, as Liljagare said, Lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance's vocalist). I think in general terms that style is usually labeled as "
New Age". There is a series of albums by Karl Jenkins named
Adiemus which has similar sounds. Maybe you like it too.
