Default Soundtrack to your summer.

This is probably gonna flop, apologies if it's just clogging up the airways and if it's not in the right place then please move it to where it should be, mods

Just been backtracking over my summer and thinking about the songs I've been listening to/loving a lot and thought I'd make a list w/brief descriptions.

What 12 songs would you choose? Here's mine:

Pixies - Where Is My Mind?

After waiting long enough to see them, I finally got the chance to when they played two 'fan' concerts in London in June. Favourite gig of my entire life, and as expected this song was not an anti-climax. Sure it's a bit of a faux pas to like this song, and it definitely isn't my favourite Pixies song.. but every single person in the room was singing in unison, just one of those moments where everyone is in that one room for the same reason as you and it just becomes so apparent. I genuinely think this was my first time ever properly experiencing bliss through live music. Sure, I've thoroughly enjoyed and really loved bands live performances before, but this was just completely on a different level.

The Flaming Lips - Do You Realize??

Band I've loved a lot for not very long, but I always knew their shows would be completely majestic. Closing on this at Glastonbury was one of my favourite ever experiences, Wayne just had the crowd eating out the palm of his hand.. absolutely perfect song to wrap up that Friday night with.

Limp Bizkit - My Way

One of the funnest bands I've ever seen, the intro to this song just crept in like a shadow over the lawn. It just felt like I was bathing in nostalgia, took me back to being 14, sitting in my garage with my friends and listening to Chocolate Starfish. Watching them with my friend Hazel was probably which topped it off too since we'd always said we wanted to see a band like that together, was good to share memories of being 14 with someone that weekend.

Arcade Fire - Power Out

Genuinely the best headliner of any festival I've ever attended. I knew they were gonna be amazing cos I'd seen them before, but when they played Power Out straight into Rebellion.. something just snapped. It was just like a huge whirlwind if brilliance, that 10 minutes or so felt like 10 seconds.

Sonic Youth - Wish Fulfillment

Scoped out this song due to just properly getting into SY and reading some of the lyrics from this tune on a blog. This song embodies everything I adore about this band and it's definitely been constant earcandy for me over the past 3 months.

Snoop Dogg - Drop It Like It's Hot

Unfortunately I missed him play this at Glasto for some reason but I've always loved this song since it was released. Genuinely an awesome, catchy song. Luckily I went to Wireless the week after and caught him there and it was just as fun as I thought it was gonna be, his whole set was just a complete novelty and I still can't comprehend how/why I saw Snoop Dogg twice within a week. No complaints though, I'd definitely go and watch him again.

Pavement - Shady Lane

After seeing them in May and having this song stand out to me a lot from their set, this again was another constant listen for me over the summer. Another reason being this guy me and my friend Nat got talking to in Sheffield who kept singing it at us. Just brings a smile to my face when I listen to it now.

The Strokes - Reptilia

Finally got my chance of redemption after 4 years! Saw these in 06 subbing Foos but I got too ****ed and passed out through most of their set, then they announced this headline date at Rockness and my friend really really wanted to go so I was there with bells on. This song just killed it live and the entire crowd was just basking in it, again, a song I've always liked but seeing it live properly got me listening to it a lot more frequently over the summer.

Queens Of The Stone Age - Song For The Dead

Another song I've always liked since I got into Queens a few years ago. Earlier in the year, I happened to stumble across some YouTube clips of this song being played at various festivals and it just looked insane. I'd listened to this song a helluva lot over the summer and seeing them close with it at Leeds was just marvellous.

The Cure - Just Like Heaven

Strangely, I heard the Dinosaur Jr. cover of this before the original, but early summer I watched Adventureland in which this song featured in one of the scenes. Hadn't listened to it in a while and it reminded me of how good it was, so this has been getting a lot of play over the summer. Plus, it's just really fitting when it's sunny outside.

The Breeders - Doe

Obviously had been on a massive Pixies kick over the majority of this year, so thought I'd check out these guys with it being Kims side band (had heard Cannonball before, but wanted to explore further). What a lovely, simple song. Kim's voice is just so soothing and it's kind of good to hear her voice a lot more than you do in Pixies.. it's just gorgeous.

Dinosaur Jr. - Thumb

One of my favourite ever bands, also finally got the chance to see them just before summer rolled in.. but seeing this song live definitely carried this song into the summer for me. Truly one of the best live bands out there, and this song is just utter genius.

Hard list to compile, Street Spirit by Radiohead and Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder were close cos they were both amazing at Glastonbury and both of these songs were incredible. Yes, I really did leave these two bands out for Limp Bizkit. Here's the playlist I made on Grooveshark as I'm unable to load any files to media sharing site at the minute
