I think most of the conversation was based more on genre misplacement than personal taste, although it could have devolved into discussion edging conspicuously close to that.
All I personally cared about was that the thread was in the right place, as that's part of my job here. But the whole thing certainly does bring up an interesting argument regarding how bands are perceived and marketed, and resultingly categorized by consumers.
