Hmm, that's interesting. I'm sure the term Noise Rock covers a great variety of bands and God Bullies are certainly one of them. But I don't agree that Sonic Youth is not because of their artistic approach. You mean their use of atonality and dissonance inspired by avant-garde music? Maybe better example in that case would be something from 'Confusion Is Sex'. I see Noise Rock as a scene that grew out of No Wave
initially, but more importantly, to me noise in rock are not just distorted, dirty sounds, but atonality and dissonance also.
Maybe we should meet half way and suggest Big Black?
