Thank you! And thank you for the recommendations, but I'm sorry to say none of them were really what I was looking for. I'm trying to find something more like this:

Calexico--

Friends of Dean Martinez--

Sorry I couldn't hyperlink, but apparently I have to make 15 posts to do that and it automatically hyperlinks unless I insert a space between Ws. But you see what I mean? Friends of Dean Martinez, at least in their earlier albums, made distinctly (as I said) spaghetti western-sounding stuff, which I really liked a lot. I don't expect to find anyone exactly like them again, but I'm always open to something similar.

And as for Calexico, that song I posted was from their second album ever, The Black Light (1998). They also had FoDM's cinematic sound on that album (see Minas de Cobre, URL below), but there was more focus on what you might call a modern rock-meets-mariachi sound you can hear here pretty clearly in Stray, I think.

But the reason I can't just go and get more Calexico, despite the band's continued existence, is that albums from the last eight years, it seems, have been far too... how to put it? Normal? Take their most recent album, Carried to Dust. It seems like the horns are all but gone from most tracks, and so are the minimal vocals. The singing is a major part of it now, and the unusual southwestern sound seems to have been ditched in favor of something with a broader appeal-- more alternative country than mariachi, maybe?

I hate to be so difficult, I really do. But it just so happens that, apparently, I have really narrow taste in this sort of thing. If you can't think of anything more like what I posted, thanks for trying anyway.

Edit: I was listening to The Black Light again after I made this post, and I thought the final track might help indicate, again, what I'm looking for:

Specifically, the first half. It's not that I only want instrumentals, but it seems like I can more easily find an instrumental that I like than something with words.
