.) When I was 11, I had to have surgery on my neck to remove a thyroglossal duct cyst. It apparently scared the bejeezus out of my family, because the doctors initially thought it was a tumor.
.) My middle toes are longer than both my second and big toes. It's kind of strange.
.) I'm of Greek, Welsh, and Irish descent.
.) My great-great-great-grandfather fought for the Union Army in the Civil War. He was wounded in action, treated, went back into action, and was captured. He wasn't released until the end of the war.
.) When I was quite young, my grandmother, a nurse, would occasionally take me to work with her at the hospital as they had a daycare on site. Actress Ashley Judd, a native of my city, was visiting the hospital because her grandfather was quite ill. I saw her in the hallway, and boldly proclaimed to her that I was going to be an actress like her someday. She told me that I was going to grow up and be really famous, and I've never forgotten that moment.
.) I smoke and drink too much, but at least I managed to get my other vices in check.
.) Tim Curry touched my butt when I was 17. I'd like to think inadvertently.
.) During 4th of July weekend of 2009, Micky Dolenz' (of the Monkees) sister Coco invited us to have drinks with them. We'd met her following a free concert at the riverfront in my town and struck up conversation. We told her we'd be inside in a few minutes. Micky Dolenz came out and signed autographs for us, and he in turn invited us to come in. I told him I was going to smoke, and we'd be right in. While my friends and I were finishing up our cigarettes, one of us got a phone call telling us about a really intense party. We elected to go to the party in lieu of chatting with Micky Dolenz. Yes. I ditched a Monkee to go to a raging party.
.) I directed and played Frank N. Furter for a Rocky Horror Picture Show shadowcast for two years.
.) Earlier this year, I was able to direct and produce a play I'd written as a part of a theatre festival in my region. It was well-received and probably the proudest moment of my life.
.) One time, a friend and I were going on a random roadtrip to New York City. We're still not sure how we got as lost as we did, but somehow we ended up in Indiana. It would appear we went the exact opposite direction from where we needed to be...we wound up just going to Chicago, IL instead, as it was way closer.
.) I used to have a one-eyed guinea pig named Matthew McConaughey, which also turned out to be female. It turns out that when I adopted her, she had a yeast infection which caused her swollen nether regions to be mistaken for male genitalia.
.) There was a time in my youth when I legitimately believed I was going to be accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, or the American equivalent thereof.
.) I am legitimately terrified of the following: Mascots, animatronics, crows, the song "The Carol of the Bells" when performed by a chorus, midgets / dwarves, and The Blue Man Group.
.) I was named after a Starship song.
.) My eyes are amber colored, something I thought was cool until it was ruined by Stephenie Meyer by being a trait of her "vegetarian vampire" protagonists in the Twilight series.
.) I've been a vegetarian for two years.
.) I met Julia Nunes after the concert she played with Ben Folds near D.C. in 2008, and my then-significant-other made me leave because they were pissed that Ben Folds wasn't coming out to sign stuff.
.) My favorite movies are: American Beauty, Amelie, A Clockwork Orange, Eraserhead, Naked Lunch, Brazil, The Children's Hour, All About Eve, and Big Fish.
.) Bette Davis is my idol, and I am sure to mention her in all of my bios for theatre. I also always have a picture of Bette Davis in my pocket when I audition.
.) I was always irritated by people who seemed way too into their Smartphones, but I got a BlackBerry for Christmas, and it's pretty much turned into an extension of my hand.
.) I played varsity softball for 6 years, basketball for 2 years, and volleyball for 1 year in high school / junior high.
.) Last summer, I went to a Phish concert in Chicago. I got lost trying to find my way around the venue (a soccer stadium) and to the car after the show, and came upon a fence blocking my way. Knowing that the car was not far at all from where I was standing and seeing no security, I squeezed through a gap between the fence and the outside wall of the venue. My friends followed, and apparently a lot of other people thought that I knew what I was doing and followed as well. We walked around and came across another fence with a set of broken-down bleachers leading to it...and a lot of sound equipment and things. We realized that we'd broken into the backstage loading area, and panicked, we all decided to climb the bleachers and jump the fence - an 11 foot monstrosity with blacktop at the other side. A lot of people started to jump, but I somehow got separated from my friends. I climbed the bleachers to scan for them, and still couldn't see them. I was about to jump anyway, as everyone else had pretty much made it over the fence and I figured they were on the ground when I was stopped by Phish security in his golf cart. He shouted at me to, "Get off the fence, you animal!" whilst giggling to himself, and I started to jump...when I noticed Phish's tour bus not 100 yards away, four silhouetted forms watching me from the windows. I slipped as I jumped and ripped the entire butt out of my pants, which the security guard thought was hilarious. I was fairly mortified.
.) <-- I used to think this number had it in for me. Everything bad that happened to me for over a year was involved with the number 24 in some way. It was weird.
.) I play Oregon Trail more than any human being should...particularly in the year 2010.
