Many of The Kinks songs mentioned in this thread do reinforce the fact that they were a very good band of the time, and so good that so many of them can realistically be discribed as timeless classics. Several have been named.
In relation to The Kinks, who reckons the single released by Dave Davies called Death of a Clown is a great song.
I also agree with Right Track that they were overshadowed by The Beatles and The Stones amidst the height of hype between these other great bands.
