I've learned to ignore band t shirt kids, on occasion though, some do know their stuff. At my school for spirit week, they had a band t-shirt day. Some statistics
All are an estimate
1st Place - Led Zeppelin ~ 30+ shirts
2nd Place - The Beatles ~ 20+
3rd Place - Pink Floyd ~ 15+
I saw everything from Tool, Cannibal Corpse, Ramones, Alice In Chains, Sublime, and others.
The thing that really pissed me off was a girl wearing a cheapy Dark Side of the Moon shirt, with glitter and such. Her friend goes up to her and says, I love your shirt...

I'd expect...Great Album... but instead...it's pretty.

But whatever, do what you like, wear what you want.
(just for the hell of it I wore a plain white t shirt that day)
