Well, anyway, the answer is that hip-hop music and rap music are pretty much synonyms, though technically speaking hip-hop refers more broadly to the culture and rap refers to the music.

I live in Hawaii; hip-hop and rap are basically the kings among music around here. Along with reggae. I've heard enough of it that I can't stand to hear it anymore.

And I don't know where. Sometime this year I did a report in school about how rap or hop-hop can affect the subconscious. I don't remember much about it. But I do remember that classic symphony was at the top and hip-hop was at the bottom. No offense.
