Once again, as I said, it IS equal, because a straight man can't marry another man either.
For a non religious person to get married in a church does seem to appear hypocritical.
However, this is the 21st century and the church needs to catch up, or be left behind.
If the church refused to marry ALL people not strictly conforming to their specifications, then there wouldn't be many people paying for the pleasure.
And that wouldn't do, would it?
So the church takes the money knowing that the couple they just married won't be darkening their door again until the oncoming Christening of their first child.
So now, who are the hypocrites?

Like jackhammer said. The church 'contract' is exactly that.
They'd be more pissed of if the cheque bounced!
