If there's one guy who deserves to be on here, it's Pino Palladino. He's a bit of a Jamerson in the sense that you may not have heard of him but you've definitely heard something by him. His resume includes Gary Numan, Paul Young, D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Simon & Garfunkel, John Mayer Trio, the Who (replacing Entwistle), Richard Ashcroft, David Gilmour, Tears for Fears, Jeff Beck, Morcheeba, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Phil Collins... and the list goes on.

He became known through his fretless work for Paul Young - skip to 2:20

He moved away from fretless and started playing neo-soul in the 90s... you've heard him laying down deep grooves on D'Angelo's Voodoo

He's playing for the John Mayer Trio nowadays (amongst other things)

And here's THAT bassline from Gary Numan's Music for Chameleons

He can play anything
