That definitely reminds me of my little sister (she's 12) last night.
She's a percussionist in middle school band who also plays marimba with the high school and is extremely musically talented. Her band director plays bass in a local band, and occasionally plays instruments along with them when they're practicing. She and I had this conversation yesterday.
SISTER: Sometimes he'll play marimba with me, or he'll pick up the trumpet. But when he really wants to show off, he'll play the guitar with us while we play.
ME: Guitar? I didn't know he played guitar, too.
SISTER: Yeah! He played it at the band concert.
ME: Wait. That was a bass.
SISTER: No. No, it's a guitar.
ME: How many strings did it have?
SISTER: Four, but I think he broke off the high strings to make it easier to play with us.
ME: Um.
