I agree Lisnaholic, that's a fun idea.
I think the biggest thing we can all do to improve the quality of the forum is remember that it's not a place for chat. And inasmuch the fact that it's a place for discussion and debate, it's also essentially living literature for those on the outside. Remember that you don't have to join a forum to read one, and being the first Google Result for 'music forum' and other music related topics is a big responsibility. Our posts should be good reads for others, and they should reach some conclusions and inform the members and non members alike about deep musical topics.
The lounge is the "catch" for anything else, and what doesn't get caught there - that goes to the shoutbox.
So, instead of posting a one-liner or constantly trying to be funny (i'm not saying you shouldn't be yourself, I'm just saying be aware of how much you do it) really approach the discussions as a writer or an opinionated party. Ask yourself before each post, "will this help the topic or am I just posting this for the lulz?"
