It's not a rule. It's a judgment call I made because when you post about your own music it's likely to be marked as spam and deleted. I saw that this guy was coming back and just wanted opinions on his video, so why wouldn't I put it in the songwriting section?
Stone Birds, for example, doesn't post about his own music in the folk forum. He posts in the songwriting thread.
If we allow every Tom, Dick and Harry to start a topic on their own band outside the songwriting forum the boards would be swallowed with spam.
