I'd like to refer you to look, instead, at KFC Skin Piles.
It's not that he doesn't make experimental music anymore, or ever, it's that he doesn't exclusively want to just make avant-garde work. He likes all aspects of guitar playing, and finding ways to work in the madness. Yea?
I'm still re-aligning what I call avant-garde mentally... I keep sitting here thinking "Does this qualify?"
