Default Eisley "Combinations"

Eisley "Combinations"

Label: Warner Bros.
Release Date: August 14, 2007
Genre: Pop-Rock
Tracklist:
1. Many Funerals
2. Invasion
3. Taking Control
4. Go Away
5. I Could Be There For You
6. Come Clean
7. Ten Cent Blues
8. A Sight to Behold
9. Combinations
10. If You're Wondering

I finally got around to getting the new Eisley album, and I don't really think much of it. The first three songs make it evident they're a much heavier band now, and when all I really thought the band had going for them was the fact they were 'fun' the distortion isn't really a welcome change. The vocals take on a much different quality when placed over louder music, a quality similar to bands such as Flyleaf and Evanescence. However there are a few highpoint on the album, the piano driven Go Away, the mandolin-laden Come Clean, and If You're Wondering. But all in all, the band shedding their pop sensibilities and adapting a sound more akin to Paramore than anything else isn't a welcome change.
Rating: 5.5/10
