do not put Green Day in the same sentence as those bands. Green Day have soled neary 70 million records. They have achieved groundbreaking success. There lyrics are truly masterful and deeply involving. Green Day are an institution. you hate them because of American Idiot. have you ever heard dookie or nimrod? you are really tedious.

I've heard a huge deal of Green Day stuff from a lot of their albums including Dookie and Nimrod. And yeah, they've been around a lot longer than Simple Plan, and have sold more also because they were one of the first big MTV Pop-punk/Power-pop bands along with Blink-182. Those types of bands are not uncommon at all anymore. Today we have Sum41, +44, Good Charlotte, Hedley, Simple Plan, Paramore, All Time Low, Bowling For Soup, New Found Glory, etc. Although to call most of those band anything to do with punk is stretching it.

Yes all those bands are far from punk. They claim to be and try to show with their black spikey haircuts and the poser sense of fashion...but if they actually inspired by bands like the pistols as they claim to be,their music would show it. But they're more interested in selling a million records and being on MTV and being played on the radio every 5 mins.
