In the meantime, enjoy the greatest hits! And have fun in your first concert, seriously. I remember my first concert, aaaah. :wavey:

My Winzip expired and I can't open the folder =( There's a way around this aside from buying winzip, right? Harvey is amazing, I have her discography, so, if you teach me how to link files I could pm you anything. OR If you have AIM, feel free to give me an offline or online IM for any album you want and I'll be very happy to send it. When I go into an artist I try to start with their first album to let them evolve, and this this case it did justice because Dry is seriously a great album. I would just put some headphones on and let crazy PJ's voice inject her emotions into you. Instrumentally speaking, IMO, I dig the bass in "Oh My Lover" and LOVE 'Plants and Rags" but I think it would be a five star album for anyone who gave it a chance.

...omg I typed a lot...

You can try downloading winzip again. There are a few zip file openers on google. Just google "open zip files" and you will get a few options. Just keep buying trials for now.

I'll PM you some more information : )

Awesome, thanks for the advice.

Nice job on the thread Roygbiv! I've started listening to Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and I looooovvve it. It came much more immediate to me than Slanted & Enchanted, which is still growing on me. But Crooked Rain is one of the best albums I've heard in a while. I can't believe I haven't tried getting into Pavement before. I can't get enough of the song "Filmore Jive".

Fillmore Jive is an epic! I love it, and I'm glad you like Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. That's the beauty about Pavement - they sorta catered to everyone. Let me know what you think of Wowee Zowee. Many of the tracks in Wowee were recorded in the Crooked Rain sessions, so you might hear some similarities.

great stuff, do you have any plans to review westing musket or whatever it's called? Apparently it's a collection of their early stuff, I thought it was an album for years

That's funny, whenever I make a Pavement Greatest Hits mix (There have been several) I always start off with Silence Kit and Trigger Cut as well, perfect first and second songs. Although the omission of Kennel District is unfortunate, it's my favorite Pavement song.

CR, CR used to be my favorite but Wowee Zowee has a much longer shelf life. Im pretty sure Malkmus said once that you're supposed to play the album in random order, which I always do since I like every song anyway, and it keeps you on your toes. One of the reasons it's aged better than CR, CR, IMO.

I can't find it anywhere! Do you own it? Maybe you can provide a linky?

I thought of putting in Kennel District, but then it would have been too many Wowee Zowee songs. I wanted to put in Brinx Job as well. That album kills me.

The random order thing makes sense, oddly enough, but the song progression already intact is so perfect I'm almost afraid to do that : P

I first listened to Pavement a few months ago and thought they sounded alright, but they didn't blow me away or anything. I listened to Slanted and Enchanted again last week, and it just clicked for some reason. These guys are incredible. I've listened to their first three albums quite a few times now, and Wowee Zowee is my favorite. All three have some absolutely amazing tracks. Next up are Brighten the Corners and Terror Twilight.

had to make sure a couple of times that I had not accidently clicked on Pitchfork when I saw some of these ratings.
