My room mate got me into Passion Pit quite recently, and honestly I don't know how I missed this ep when it came out, seeing I was quite into electronic music at that point (edit: I was probably too busy fapping to old cure records).
Nevertheless this is a fantastic ep of really quite interesting, dynamic, well written tunes.

Strangely it mashes together quite a lot of synth sounds I would generally find really lame, but in this context they seem to work. The dynamic seems quite different from the bulk of "electro" stuff, it steers quite clear from the standard four to the floor bass heavy rumble, and sometimes reminds me of a dance orientated Death Cab for Cutie in it's song structure. The melodies are just so strong and the ridiculously high man vocals just draw me in.
It has been as ridiculously overplayed in my house for the past week as the requisite bouts of freaks of **** videos featuring the hilarity that is O G Mudbone's giant fake penis, but somehow...just like Mudbone, it really hasn't gotten old.

Short, snappy and infectious, this gets my vote for the best written electronic dance record since Sound of Silver, which really wasn't released that long ago, but still...an electronic record hasn't hit me this hard since then. My only real complaint is that the album isn't as good as this
9/10
