I think Nickleback was an apt comparison. Both bands can do better, but they're too much business men, not enough artists.

Great review, the vocals in Aha Shake Heartbreak are miles ahead of Come Around Sundown. Their really is no comparison, his heart just isn't in the music

i still think it was pretty mediocre. if you want some recommendations on things that will make you have that feeling without listening to the Kings of Leon prostituting themselves, just let me know. (marijuana) :pimp: |
Like a friend of mine said the difference between Kings of Leon on Aha Heartbrake, Youth and Young, Because of the Times is that Caleb sang about being a womaniser and now he sings about being in love. They have grown up. I would be more worried if Caleb was singing and writing songs which are not a true reflection on where they are in life and in the music world right now. Come Around is the same as Only By The Night in that there are still some real gems in their but the band we all used to follow and love have grown up and their music has become more accessible so to speak.

I loved your article, actually very insightful. Personally Im someone that discovered Kings of Leon when they became commercial. I do like them but I can't say their a perminant fixture on my playlist.

Interesting, I liked Calebs vocals on it.. I didn't notice a difference. Come on Chad Kroeger that is low. Anyways Pyro is one of my favorite songs of KOL's. I guess its time to listen to the album for the 20th time and get back to you. I hope I don't see it in a different light.
If anything without listening to it again, it sounded as if they are just progressing in a different way that you expect, or would like. They are progressing as they want. Anyways they were popular in Britain years before the US and they didn't sell out. Well putting my disc in right now. I'll be back :) EDIT: Yep I stand by my opinion, still a great album IMO. |
