The Party Ain't Over-Wanda Jackson

Wanda Jackson is in her Seventees now but delivers a humdinger of an album under the musical direction of Jack White.
The album manages to be both musically inovative & inventive while still havin g the sound & feel of an authentic rockabilly feel.
The range of songs covered is also interesting- from the cou ntry gospel classic Dust on the Bible to Dylans' Thunder on the Mountain & taking in Rum & Coca Cola.
These are not just run of the mill covers. The instrumentation is initially unsettling but compelling. Since this was added to my collection this week, it is my most listened to
Certainly top release of the year so far. And a big Mazel Tov to Jack White & Wanda Jackson for making the most original comeback album we've seen in a long time

I never heard of Wanda Jackson. She sounds ok. What albums did she release?

Wanda Jackson is in her seventees now. She was one of the original rockabilly singers back in the fiftees around the time Elvis was comming up.

Wanda Jackson sounds horrible on The Party Isn't Over. She hasn't sung rock and roll since she was in her teens and at age 76 she's only making a fool of herself. Jack White is equally clueless with his amp turned up to 20 and playing his guitar like it's a White Stripes performance. Both Jackson and White are clearly out of their element.

If you want to hear Wanda Jackson sounding good, listen to the rock and roll singles she made in the Fifties; or to the music she made after she reinvented herself as a country and western singer in the Sixties. You're going to find yourself hoping the party will get over quick, if you listen to The Party Isn't Over.

I disagree. I think they come up with an original, enventive sound on here
