I will also mention that you have to really pay attention to Porcupine Tree's albums or they will pass you by. Many of their musical intricacies are very subtle, and if you don't really pay attention, you will miss the best parts of their music. Many people claim that PT are boring, but I think many of those people aren't hearing the the subtle musical intricacies, to which I'm referring. Steven Wilson is the band leader and song writer, and he just released a great solo album ("Grace for Drowning") Here's "Raider II" from that album, which is a 24-minute track that is very reminiscent of King Crimson "Lizard" era. |
I really like this album and really rate Steven Wilson , i do understand what people say though , it took me 2 or 3 times listening to it before i really appreciated it.

i like "Deadwing" more than this
i started with "The Incident" which put me off them for a while |
This album was my introduction to Porcupine Tree, and I swallowed it hook, line, and sinker. Now, I acknowledge that a few tracks aren't perfect or anything, but "Gravity Eyelids" instantly sold me on the effort. Bought the album based on the track, and never looked back. :)

It's definitely a solid album with brilliant songs. Hard to soft, gentle and mysterious. Gravity Eyelids is one of my favourite PT songs, and I'd say the album is up there with Deadwing.

I was listening to this album this morning, and I still get chills with Blackest Eyes.
