Radiohead Top 8 Albums
Yorke and such have a spectacular catalogue of LPs, and are appropriately praised as one of all the all time great pop acts. Over the last twenty years Radiohead's growth and experimentation has consistently split their fan base but I for one have loved it all.
8. Pablo Honey Yeah. It's an obvious choice, but make no mistake there is certainly no shame in being the runt of this absolutely extraordinary litter. In fact Pablo Honey has moments of (somewhat dismissed by fans) beauty, in songs like "Anyone Can Play Guitar" and of course Radiohead's springboard to success, indie anthem "Creep". 7. The King of Limbs From debut to most recent! An awkward leap I suppose, but personally I don't feel TKOL lives up to its predecessors, in most respects The Eraser is a better album. Does this mean Radiohead are past it? Not at all, "Lotus Flower", "Separator", "Codex" and "Good Morning Mr Magpie" are all brilliant, but over eight tracks they didn't quite do it. Is this Radiohead getting lazy? Hell no, if anything theyre trying harder than ever to cover ground that they haven't already and that isn't an easy task for one of the most versatile bands in the world. 6. The Bends Great album. Not a perfect album, but it certainly proved that Radiohead were not just another aspiring British pop rock act. Admittedly, "High and Dry" was fairly generic but in Radiohead's defence they did not want this track on the record. The gorgeous slow-paced "Fake Plastic Trees" became a signature song for the group despite being rather obscured in an album occupied mostly by what is now arguably the hardest guitar rock the group ever explored. 5. Amnesiac Amnesiac brings us some of Radiohead's most breathtaking moments, and some of the strangest (i.e. "Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors", "Like Spinning Plates"). The three singles; incredible. The closing track; no different. But you know that as well as I do. 4. Hail to the Thief So much potential, but it could have been better for a number of reasons, the main one being the length. Hail to the Thief is too long, period. The opening three songs are superb, but by "Backdrifts" the flow of the album seems tactless, and the songs continue in a hit-and-miss (much more hit, mind you) fashion. In fact I would go so far to say the album has filler tracks, which is something rare on Radiohead LPs. Nevertheless, this album is absolutely outstanding, and it contains some of the best Radiohead songs ever made. 3. OK Computer It's better than Automatic for The People, Illmatic, Definitely Maybe, What's the Story?, Play and most of all Nevermind. Best album of a pretty **** decade for music. Oh well, this record does its best to redeem the shortcomings of the nineties. And, dear lord, its best is so so good. To put it in simple terms; if you dislike OK Computer you don't really want other people to know that. The Dark Side of the Moon for its time? Plant would be flattered. Incredible from the first riff in "Airbag" to the egg timer at the conclusion of "The Tourist" 2. Kid A How is an album like Kid A not number one? It even baffles me! Oh wait no it doesn't, but that's a different story. Certainly worth the three year wait, Kid A is a perfect pop record, no exaggeration. Of course it isolated some fans, but really its their loss; Radiohead have only gotten better since OK Computer. It's bizarre how a relatively brief album can have so much more substance than a record of and less subtlely. If you're one of the Radiohead fans of old who decided they were above the evolutions of the band, please listen to "Idioteque". 1. In Rainbows My favourite album ever. Simply the way this album was released is enough to drop jaws, but the music has the same effect a hundred times over. In short, click play - "15 Step" will grace your eardrums before another 9 tracks do the same in their own, majestic way. Words are not enough. |
Wow,all the tracks of this album is looking awesome and worthy to listen...You have done a superb job to share all these among us.

Well, my opinion about Radiohead albums tend to change with time,
but at the moments I feel like it goes like this: 8. Pablo Honey 7. The King Of Limbs 6. The Bends 5. Hail To The Thief 4. In rainbows 3. Ok Computer 2. Amnesiac (The 7 B-sides of this album = incredible. check them out) 1. Kid A And, I think Idioteque is the weakest song at Kid A! though its still awesome |
Almost did it right, except not.
8. Pablo Honey (no explanation required) 7. Hail to the Thief (I agree, there's quite a bit of filler on here.) 6. King of Limbs (I think it's great, but not amazing. Also, it's damn short.) 5: The Bends (Best britrock album period, but it has one or two filler tracks) 4: Amnesiac (so weird amirite xD) 3: OK Computer (pretty much the definitive 90's alt rock album. Lots of variation, lots of fun, barely any filler) 2: In Rainbows (no filler, no sucky moments, pretty much perfect) 1: Kid A (11/10 AOTYAY) |

The special edition of Amnesiac features some live versions as well. The live version of "Like Spinning Plates" is beautiful. |
In Rainbows shouldn't top a grocery list.

So... if these are the top eight Radiohead albums, what are the bottom eight?

First of all, hello fellow music addicts, I have just joined this forum and I look forward to sharing music with y'all!
My favourite has to be "Amnesiac", because for me it defines Radiohead's psychedelic side - something that really differentiates them from any other average alternative band. "Like Spinning Plates" is a captivating song, which is great not only as a background for doing other stuff, but with a pair of good headphones, it's a sensual experience. While all the albums have something good about them, seeing Radiohead live is one of the best things that ever happened to me. If you get a chance to see them, don't hesitate. |

8. The King Of Limbs
7. Pablo Honey 6. In Rainbows 5. Hail To The Thief 4. Amnesiac 3. Kid A 2. The Bends 1. OK Computer Radiohead have declined with each album from Kid A with the decline growing ever greater than the album before, particularly their last two. In Rainbows lacked any atmosphere or emotion in the songs, something that had, I feel, been prevalent on their earlier work and the album was rather forgettable. It was lifeless. The King Of Limbs was catastrophically bad and was the turning point for me. I lost any lingering interest that I had in Radiohead after that. |
Hail to " Hail to the Thief "

Thinking of the album amnesiac, I would have to say "life in a glasshouse" is one of my favorites. It was the only track not to be recorded before the release of Kid A. The Humphrey Lyttelton and his band also helped with the song. I think that's why it is distinct different to the rest on the album.

I don't know, but The King of Limbs will be at 8th place either way.

Always loved "The Bends" more than anything else they have ever put out. Not to say that OK Computer, Kid A and In Rainbows aren't great... they're all 5/5 from me. I would very much say that Pablo Honey is their worst album, with "Creep" being the one notable track on it.
8. Pablo Honey 7. The King Of Limbs 6. Amnesiac 5. Hail To The Thief 4. In Rainbows 3. OK Computer 2. Kid A 1. The Bends |
I often discuss how Radiohead is one of those rare bands whose albums get better as they go, whereas most bands' works decline in quality as their discography grows.
I view Kid A as a record that not only redefined Radiohead, but really changed the course of pop music. Kid A was defiant...a sonic middle finger commercially speaking, insisting on being what it was (nightmarish, beautiful, icy, detached, magnificent...all the things we love about it) and accomplishing that in the face of what everyone expected of it. I view Amnesiac as a kind of extension of Kid A, and usually listen to it as though that's precisely what it is. I rarely play Kid A without following it up with this album. I used to wish they had released them together as a double album until I realized that I can simply play the two back to back and pretend that's just what they did. Fun! Now, Kid A and Amnesiac being what they are, I view the rest of Radiohead's catalog as the organic machinery that surrounds the nucleus of these two records. Orbiting closest to the center, of course, I find OK Computer and In Rainbows performing the most vital functions. OK Computer seems in hindsight to be so much like a prelude to what immediately followed, but this idea in no way diminishes the power and importance of this brilliant album, while In Rainbows conversely seems less like any kind of epilogue than it does a necessary evolution of what came before it. More on the periphery of all of this I see Hail to the Thief, the Bends and the King of Limbs, each flashing and dimming with a bit more frequency and in no particular sequence...though to be fair tKoL hasn't had much time to sink in for me as of yet. Of course, don't get me wrong...each of these three records are absolutely brilliant and vary from 7.5/10 to 9/10, depending on the weather. I haven't listened to Pablo Honey in like, 15 years. Not fair to say much about it, but I suspect there's a reason it's been so long since I've given it a whirl. -Suckin' on a Lemon Ghost Jam |

People's main complaint is the length, but it doesn't really feel all to short from start to finish, which is the way I listen to it. Really obsessed with it right now as it is. |

Lol. Yeah. Seems like I did. Maybe it's just fresh to me or something, but I can't keep away from it. It's definitely up there for me.

But, but, nobody likes that album!?
