Skrillex - BANGARANG
(Hey, new here, so I thought I would do this, constructive criticism is appreciated)
BANGARANG, by Skrillex, features fast-paced Higher range-Bass dub sounds that, while are exemplary of popular Dubstep ( i.e. Flux Pavilion/Nero) with drops that lead onto fast samples, also pander to the same popular version of Dubstep that it (the album) has. The songs Right In and Bangarang feature, as I said, fast-paced samples. The drums are, however, exemplary of the rest of the sound and music, if not repetitive among. Other tracks, like Right on Time and Breakin' a Sweat feature less "Dub Bass" and offer an alternative. These tracks also remind us of Skrillex's versatility, that he isn't tied to the sounds and can explore alternative genres, as proven with his latest few tracks Leaving EP which explore the heavier dub-garage sides of Electronica. Bangarang, if I had to give it a rating based off of numerical value, I would give it a 6 - 7.5 out of 10, because of the "sameness" of the beats and the sound of the bass. I had mixed feelings about this review, but after examining the music, these are my opinions. *NOTE: Skrillex is a great artist, but this is my basic opinion of this album ~Dox |
I haven't heard Bangarang yet, as I am new to the Skrillex sound. Although, I did download his "My name is Skrillex" and I must say it was quite impressive. The newest song from him that I've heard is "Wild for the Night" with ASAP Rocky and this definitely demonstrates some versatility.

More Monsters and Sprites is the best.

I really like his sound ; - ) This will be awesome!:tramp:
great review man ! I thought this ep was pretty solid.
This album was pretty good, not on the level of his first ep, but good none the less.
Awesome!!! Skrillex did their best in this time!
I really dig this album, a whole lotta. You did a nice review. Welcome to musicbanter.
I once saw it at a CD store for 10NOK (that's about 2USD). I didn't buy it then either.
I'm not a huge dubstep fan, but skrillex is one of the few I like sometimes along with knife party. This album my friend really likes though.
Tbh the only thing I really enjoyed skrillex with was the album with Korn. |
I like a few things by Skillrex, but have to be in the mood.
Yeah thats probably the only song i like from skrillex.
Didn't think anyone gave two craps about Skrillex anymore?
This will be very very awesome! :yeah:
Never was a huge fan of dubstep until I heard skrillex and especially BOOMARANG. Quality music that is so original.

This EP from Skrillex was a nice solid example from his discography. Not the best in my opinion but it was decent enough to make me listen to it a few times over and over again. I really like Skrillex's style in dubstep in which in his well known Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP shows a barrage of bizarre sounds that are very complex and arresting to the ear for example. For the Bangarang EP however, I don't see as much complexity in this one than his other previous works. Like I said, this isn't one of the best works from Skrillex but then again it's not his worst.

I personally hated this release. All too same-samey, guy hasn't released something truly fresh since 2010 imho :(
My twelve-year-old daughter told me, when she heard me listening to this some months ago, that it sounds like a computer committing suicide. Okay.

As far as that kind of dubstep goes, I found Skrillex to be a bit generic. My personal favorite is definitely either Au5 or Excision. I love brostep.
I do not like dubstep, but abstracting from my personal preferences - is quite bearable thing
Nice!
