I listened to OK Computer a lot back in the 90's and it was really great for the time but I think it is a real stretch to say it is one of the best ever... I'm not even sure it's better than Kid A? Anyway, I think the title sums it up great "OK" Computer was an Okay album.

Not to be picky, but are the Idiot and Marquee Moon really post-punk? They came out during or before punk became a truly tangible idea so they don't seem like they could be that kind of extension historically speaking.

I'm not a Radiohead fan precisely, but I do think OK Computer is a great album and it deserves the praise it receives. Don't know if best album ever, but a great one no doubt. I like it really.

I think Radiohead really made the pop album of the 90's with OK Computer, and I completely disagree that an important album has to be challenging. With that your discrediting a huge number of classic albums. OK Computer is pop in an interesting way combining these elements of experimental and electronic music and making a something that should by all means sound bad, but with their since of melody and subtle rhythmic interplay with deviations from a stone cut formula. Its an album that I can repeatedly go back to and find something new to hear sonically or just how the band is playing in general. While I do believe avant-garde and experimental music has its place in the books of classic music, why should extremely well crafted pop be left out of the mix.
