My Reviews

I'm thinking of posting all of the reviews that I have written over the past two years here on Music Banter. I haven't posted any on here yet, but I'm debating it. The number is over 300 reviews. You can read ALL of them at Crinn's Official Blog

What do you guys think?
Do you think that I should start posting them here as well?

I have no problem with you having this review thread. Infact I think it's a very good idea. If you enjoy writing about music, then this is certainly a good place to share that with us!

I would give some thought to how many you want to post mind. As In if you post 300 reviews up in this thread, I'm not sure how many people are going to read them. However if you were to pick and choose them, and update your thread periodically with them, then you would stand a better chance of having others participate. You may also wish to consider a journal instead and post your reviews in there, rather than make a thread for each review in this subforum?

I think we should begin a completely new thread where all Music Banter members are able to post nothing but their own album reviews. Each member can anthologize his or her album reviews in the same manner that prominent music & film critics provide their collected reviews on many of their websites. The late film critic Roger Ebert posted every one of his movie reviews dating back to the early 70's on his website and it makes for fascinating reading. Rolling Stone posts every album review by every reviewer dating back to their first issue in 1967.

I've often wondered why there wasn't a thread like that in forum. It would allow forum members to browse the album reviews of their favorite Music Banter writers without digging through all of their other posts to find a specific review. Maybe I'm easily entertained, but I can spend hours browsing the reviews of good cultural critic who knows how to write about the arts.

There's a small group of Music Banter forum members who write album reviews that are as good or better than the reviews I read at NME, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork or the All Music Guide and a good anthology thread of album reviews by Music Banter regulars might even increase search engine traffic for the forum.

Have you seen http://www.musicbanter.com/album-rev...iews-here.html Gavin? Is this kind of what you mean?

It's far from comprehensive, but users can make use of it and link their reviews to be added to the OP if they wish to do so.

Hmm...Making a thread with just my reviews sounds like a good idea...and I can provide a link to the page on my blog if people want to leave comments. Thanks for the input, man! And yeah, I probably won't post ALL of my reivews

Or.. you could start your own journal...

Crinn 06-18-2013 06:28 PM

I could, although it wouldn't be any different than just creating a thread here. I'll decide sooner or later.
