Black Sabbath 13

Okay lets get serious here! The album really should have been entitled " Time Machine " and the cover would have had the band members wearing their best platform boots with the lightning bolts on them gathered around a artists rendering of a time machine.
It's all here in glorious shades of ominous black! Ozzy doesn't really need a good vocal range because his style of singing is a perfect blend with the music that's been made here. You hear traces of past melodic acoustic guitars and bongos thumping away in the back ground. There are so many power riffs and heavy bass notes on this album it would take a year to list them all. In the long run this is a trip from start to finish that requires some patience from the listener to digest all of this music. Two songs that are over eight minutes long and three that are over seven which does require some listening skill that might be lost on the youth of today. Those days of sitting around the living room with the lights turned out and watching a trio of candles burn down while listening to Black Sabbath may be long gone. For those who use too practice this ancient art of album listening 13 might just make you want to turn the lights out again.......

Honestly I was of the opinion it wasn't going to be any good. And I love Sabbath so much that I didn't want to be disappointed. But I took the chance and just wow. It's a really strong statement. I think this album is up there with some of their best work. To me it sounds like a follow up to masters of reality. I was truly surprised yes ozzys voice Sint what it was but I agree with you it's not important. As it fits well with the music.

I really like it. The album grows on you and the songs do not seem as long as when I first listened to the album. I agree that it's all there one just has to not pre-judge the product.......Ozzy was pointing out to him it was the most important album he was going to make in his career! :hphones:

See I know people including myself who are still not listening to it. Because they think it's gonna be **** and that there old rockers that can't do it anymore. I have even gone as far to buy my friends copies but they still don't listen to it. So frustrating. But you're right the album dose grow on you and the songs are not that long for me anyway. Fantastic album. It's up there with some of my favorites my 2013. That included David bowie sigr Ross and the national and the board of Canada new album.

So lets back up here a bit. You have actually bought your friends copies of the album and they still do not listen to it? Can you say close minded......Seriously?
Personally I'd say they don't deserve to listen to it.:banghead:

I brought this one out to the shed for a listen yesterday. Aside from the fact that Ozzy has lost a bit of his lucidity, it's a really solid album. I hear shades of quite a few earlier Sabbath tunes, from the self titled first, to Planet Caravan, to Symptom OTU. Iommi really shines throughout, and even without Ward I still feel the chemistry of the original line-up is preserved. Which is testimony to Wilks' outstanding musicianship. I'll be wearing this one out for the rest of the summer.

Definitely worth the wait for this one. It got hyped up so much, and even though at points it doesn't deliver, it's still a damn good album.

Breath taking when listened to on a quality set of headphones and loudly.......
