No offense, but it strikes me as the same generic brand of "indie" (something that shouldn't even describe a type of sound in the first place) that seems to have become popular in recent times.

How many songs have you listened to?

I listened to the thing in its entirety for the sake of not being entirely dismissive. It sounds like run of the mill rock candy with your ‘standard’ pop lyricism up to about the 6th track. Talk! varies it up the album a little by getting slightly disjointed, not that it was a stand-out track by any means. After Talk! you get more of the same. The album was pretty forgettable, not something I’d listen to again.

:( To be honest I would completely disagree with you. While some tracks like Chocolate and Sex are sort of generic indie style (which I like) but songs like girls, settle down and heart out are more upbeat dance/ indie pop songs

I feel that people have executed this type of thing before with much more substance and originality. The album felt pre-chewed, and it felt smeared together for me.

Certainly not 'generic' indie stuff. The stuff on their EPs is less 'generic' indie and much more original. If you like Facedown try other stuff like You, Antichrist or Head.Cars.Bending.

I like the 1975's self-titled quite a bit, but I'm a bit puzzled at why it's getting so much attention when there are so many other bands and albums this year that do the 80's thing so much better (St. Lucia, Tesla Boy, Starcadian, etc). Guess opening up for the The Rolling Stones really does make the difference as far as exposure goes, lol! :)

I haven't heard much from those bands... I might have to check them out. I guess the 1975 have become so popular for a reason. Maybe because when they released their album, people already knew who they were because they had released loads of EPs with Chocolate making them popular.
