Silvery Ghosts – Love & Other Ephemera

Silvery Ghosts – Love & Other Ephemera
Album review by Dave Smiles

Silvery Ghost is the new project from singer songwriter Hank Kim who returns to music after a five year absence filled with much personal growth and music maturity. The album, Love & Other Ephemera is a collection of songs about healing and new beginnings.
The music adds a contemporary spin on the timeless use of acoustic guitars and pianos by adding electronic elements and programming. It also includes the voice of Kelli Scarr, who is best known for her work on Moby’s album Wait For Me.
A great follow up to Hank Kim’s two previous releases, Blue Alibi and Notorious Rainproof Smile, and at just over 45 minutes, this is one for a rainy Sunday afternoon, or late night drinks with close friends and loved ones.

I heard the band's song "Vivid in the Valley" on Sound Cloud, and then heard "Headlong" when it was posted on Largehearted Boy's blog (really great music reviews!). Vivid is a sexy, slow burn, and Headlong has a techno beat that sounds both familiar and totally new.

I agree with metalife's comment about the fact that the album would be great for a dinner party or drinks!

I'd combine this album with songs from Kan Wakar's "Moving On," Sharon Van Etten's "Are We There" and Porcupine Tree's "Deadwing."

Has anyone else given this a listen? What do you think?
