Kurt Cobain: "And I Love Her/Sappy" Singles

I like Kurt Cobain a lot. He was one of the artists that gave me hope to become a musician. Two new singles have been put on iTunes for the soundtrack of "Montage Of Heck," about Kurt. The two songs were "Sappy" and "And I Love Her."

SAPPY

My least favorite of the singles. It is the Nirvana song, but it is one that really didn't interest me. This new cover is just slow. Kurt sounds really sad and his guitar sounds sloppy. I understand this is a home recording, but this shouldn't be a single.

AND I LOVE HER

Kurt covering The Beatles. This is the best of the two singles. I like the guitar in this version, and Kurt's voice really sounds great.

It'll be interesting to hear what you guys say about the singles. I can't wait for the album, and hopefully that is a good thing.

I saw the track listing for the album, seems pretty good. I saw Montage of Heck and to be honest I felt the movie was kind of choppy but it was still good as a whole. A little overrated but it didn't disappoint me.

Personally I find that version of "Sappy" top be the highlight of the whole CD. I have known it for about 25 years though, as it was initially released on the first "Outcesticide" album. It is to me the perfect solo recording, it is dark, sparse and has a gothic undertone that is brilliant in how it is presented. Not single material, but easily the best thing on that album as a whole.

"And I Love Her" is a good track. I dont know what else to say, it is interesting and the best newly discovered track on the album as a whole.

For the most part i agree with the original review, i much prefer the studio version of Sappy which i actually first came to know as 'Everything and Nothing' that home version kinda sucked by comparison.

On the other hand that bare version of 'and i love her' sounded pretty good because of the way he sang it.

Overall neither single is worth getting imo unless you're a hardcore Kurt fan.

Montage of heck was a good film until they included Courtney Love. Read the biographies and journal's of Mr. Cobain and did I hate myself fur it ;(...Sappy is the better song and I'll tell you why. If Cobain were to have lived another 5 years he would've been the best folk singer in the last 10 years. Y'all can hear that from his MTV unplugged...He had an ear for catchy melodies if you listen to Nevermind it's complete rock/pop fur the early 90's (90-92). Anyway the dude was a back woods hick and digged them hillbilly tunes. Sappy was definitely the best instead of some stoned strummed "and I love her" Beatles didee inspired by some bitch wife (who lets face it probably killed him...).

I liked seeing Courtney goof around with Kurt in Montage of Heck. For awhile there they were 2 junkies in love and seemed genuinely happy in their own little sick world. Im not really a fan of Courtney Love but i do think at some point she genuinely loved him but eventually they got fed up and turned against each other.

I agree Kurt would've made a great folk singer, my favorite songs from the unplugged are the more folksy ones like Lake of fire, Where did you sleep last night and Plateau.
