Everything All The Time - Band of Horses (2006) Album Review
 

Welcome to Peyton Reviews! I’m Peyton, and this is review 1 of my entire MusicBanter career. Today, I’ll be reviewing Everything All The Time, the 2006 debut album by the Seattle, WA band Band Of Horses.

Band Of Horses’ debut album is a mix of relatable indie rock and heartfelt, dreamy acoustic songs. From a three minute and forty three second dreamy high on “The First Song” to the lone dissociative hit song “The Funeral”, this album can give the listener such highs and lows in emotion that one would wonder if it’s impossible to recover. It is possible, and this album is a soundtrack to an antisocial summer.

I first got into Band of Horses after hearing the song “The Funeral” in the original skate. game released in 2007. I got that game in 2018, so my nostalgic self really was doing great keeping everything alive.

Everything All The Time was released on March 21, 2006 with the independent record label Sub-Pop, most famous for releasing Nirvana’s first album Bleach in 1989. Years later, bands from Washington were still getting signed by record labels, including Band of Horses. As a result of this, more people were getting into these bands.

This album specifically showcases the post-grunge like sound of indie rock ten years after its demise. I love all of the songs, but if I had to give a review, here’s what it would be:

Album Rating:
It’s the thing you’ve been waiting for. Everything All The Time is a mishmash of good songs which can hit the listener like a freight train.
I give Everything All The Time by Band of Horses an 8.5/10. From the skyrocketing opening of my particular favorite track “Wicked Gil” to the closer “St. Augustine”, this album can hit like a freight train.
