My Retirement

Well boys and girls, the time has come for me to retire from the MusicBanter message boards. I've enjoyed the time I've spent here (over 2 years) and in the process have bettered myself as a lover of music and I truly think as a person.

I'm leaving for the simple fact that I no longer enjoy my time here at MusicBanter. I still like all of you, but the stimulating conversation and music appreciation we used to have on this site has seemingly disappeared. I for one spend time on here to discover new artist and bands, but the audience for my style of music is so limited on this website. itchy tasty and zealious are really the only people whose interest parallel mine. So I must bid you all adieu'

I'd like to say goodbye to some members in particular:

gregb: Thank you for maintaining this site, for giving me the oppurtunity to moderate and for being so understanding of the music community.

jibber: my sking meangirl. I'll miss our witty cut downs and jabs at the deserving and helpless. It made me smile alot. Keep doing what you do and I hope that your passions lead you to great things.

Misfits: dude, I feel like i know you we've talked for so long haha, keep educating yourself and skateboarding, i'm sure i'll talk to you online soon.

bungalowbill: we had our "spats" but i always counted you a friend. I love your taste in music and thanks to you have become very interested in the underground hip-hop scene.

Fenixpunk: It was a pleasure to "work" with you on ensuring the enjoyability of the forums and it's a pity that i didn't meet you a year earlier or else you would have made me a punker through and through!

Zealious: I still remember that dream I had that included you (wow that sounded weird). Any time you want to talk music, hit me up on AIM dude ( alaskanarson ).

itchy tasty: you better go to the Deathfest. If not the same message for Zealious applies, i'd love to keep talking music with you. Anytime you want to listen to something new or feel like sharing something cool you found, hit me up on AIM

hookerswithmachineguns: besides having the greatest name on these forums you also have had one of the most eclectic music taste on here. that taste has lead to me to several bands that I enjoy. I hope grad school goes well!

DavidFrost: If it wasn't for you, I'd still think Taking Back Sunday was emo. Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways . Plus the music you showed me (Welcome The Plauge Year being my favorite) is being listened to at this moment actually haha.

IAmAlejo: My brother from another mother, I'm stoked about coming down to VA Beach in May. I'll make sure to keep in touch about staying at your place that friday.

PerfectionThruSilence: Unearth owns. keep it metal broseph \m/

DontRunMeOver: The most logical of us all, thanks for your music critiques and insight into the political topics on this forum, it was enlightening. Keep writing dude, it's getting really good

adidasss: I remember when you first joined. ah those were the days. keeping the peace between you and tommyrocker was quite a doozy. and now your a staple here. Good luck with whatever life throws at you. take it easy dude!

Vanilla: Never compromise your faith, don't give in to temptation, hold your head high. take care kiwi.

TheBig3KilledMyRainDog: I'm pretty sure we didn't get along when you first joined, but now we're basically coworkers! Well we were at least, pity about Boston College losing huh

cheeseman: yet another Kiwi! I loved debating religion with you. You were fair, opinionated, open to others ideas. I only wish there were more like you.

mosesandtherubberduckey: one of the craziest names on here. Even though you joined relativly recently, your one of the busiest members here! Keep on trucking, and keep on listening to good music.

MURDERJUNKIE: I've enjoyed reading your post, especially the one on the battle between DragonForce and Rhapsody haha. when your band gets a good demo together IM me dude!

boo boo: I'll admit, you've turned me into a prog lover. now go wallow in your self-satisfaction. bah humbug.

right-track: always injecting wisdom into the proceedings, your the forums father! It was great knowing you and reading what you had to say.

and of course, dirt mcgrit: anal beads brother. anal beads.

I've enjoyed my time here immensly. I will be here to run the forum awards and to post the Metal Education thread version 2, whenever i get done with it. I'll also post my review of the Maryland Deathfest for itchy. But my time here at MB is effectivly done, for the time being at least. Maybe this summer I'll come back, who knows. But until them, I bid you all farewell and wish you all the best.

love,

Ian (riseagainstrocks)

Well RAR if your mind is made up, then I for one will be sad to see you go. :(

There have been times when I've felt the same as you. I to have a specialised taste in music, namely Northern Soul. I know there aren't any members on this site who share my passion for this genre, but like you MusicBanter has put me onto stuff (even though my tastes are varied) that I wouldn't have even considered otherwise.

It's a shame your leaving because one of the reasons I keep coming back to these forums, has a lot to do with the individuals and personalities on them, you being one of them. :)

Good wishes RAR. :thumb:

well ain't that a bitch....it's sad to see the regulars go, i hate it when things change, but i guess it's inevitable. we'll all leave one day, you stuck it out longer than most. so kudos to you. you're a very wise and mature young man,i'm sure you'll do good in life....best of luck to ya.

Goodbye then Ian. Hope that you put your re-allocated time to good use and manage to find ever more new music. I wish you good luck with everything that your doing and everything that you're going to do. That counts for everybody else reading this too, those who are going AND those who are staying.

Ciao.

You'd better still log in a few times to read the farewells you're going to get!
