On my forum (not kidding) it's not allowed to change user names without requesting.
And these are requests like "Change Louistje to Louis" (Louistje is diminutive for Louis) or change "Ritsjie Recordings" into "Ritsjie", because the recording stuff didn't happen. Or change "Alexanderverbeek" into "Alexander", because verbeek looked stupid

Or alternatively instead of trying to integrate it into the forum software you could just copy the name change thread in the mod forum so it's a public list.
