MusicBanter Unofficial Rules

I will be adding to these.....

At least make an effort to post in the music forums a few times first before you make an introductory thread. and if you do start one at least make an effort to say something more than 'hi i'm new'

Please refrain from making smart arsed comments if a moderator is dealing with something. Especially if it starts the whole things off again , it's highly annoying.

The reason there are certain bands highly thought of here is because people have made an effort to explain in detail as to why they enjoy them. You will not be ostracised just because you don't listen to them and making comments such as ' You only fit in here if you like **Insert band here** just make you look like a prick. Instead why not make some effort to explain why the bands you like are so great.

Use the search function , do you really think in 5 years of this forum you are the first person ever to mention Chinese bloody Democracy , Green Day or ICP ?

If you think Hip-Hop sucks don't bore us by making a thread about it.

The same goes for Emo being "Gay"

And we know what 'Real Emo' is too thanks

And you also don't need to start a thread to point out how Fall Out Boy or Panic At the Disco 'Sold Out' either.

And we'd appreciate it if you didn't use the word gay in a derogatory way thanks.

Pop has just as much right to a forum as any other genre. there's nothing more boring than a Slipknot fan going in there saying how we should listen to 'real music'.

Moderators cannot change usernames. If you want to change it send a PM to Yac & ask him very very nicely. And try not to ask him every 5 minutes as well.

Avatars are uploaded for members who make a decent contribution. Also re-size them yourselves, you don't need to be a moderator to use MS paint.

If your looking for a band name don't bother asking here , you'll just regret it.

Don't post reams & reams of stuff you have copy & pasted from other sites , It just makes you look like someone who can't form an opinion of their own.

Posting a review you wrote from a blog or another site is only allowed for members who contribute to the site on a regular basis in other areas of the forum. If you ONLY post stuff like that it'll get treated as spam & you'll get banned. Especially if you do it on your first post.

We're only interested in your band or your own music if you post here regually. If not then fuck off.

Vs threads are NOT banned , they are highly moderated. If you do insist on starting one if you don't have a detailed reason for wanting to compare two bands it'll get closed.

1. If you're going to act like a twat, expect people to treat you as such and try not to get offeded when it happens.

And it's also not against the rules to think someone is a twat.

Only to say they are. But in most cases it's pretty apparent.

"Well that's just your opinion".

Well fuck me i wouldn't have guessed that since it was me flippin' typing it!

Agh.

Over use of similes in an Intro thread... isn't endearing.

Also, there are a few members here who like nothing better than to rubbish your posts in an attempt to wind you up.
We all know who they are, just learn to ignore them.

Avoid changing font. Especially to comic sans.

coloured text is generally painful to read as well

Full credit to whoever posted this earlier... was it lucifer sam? Without being a grammar nazi, I feel this is completely relevant to your posting experience.

This is a fantastic thread that comes just in time for newbie season, it seems. I'm a big noob myself, I know, but I think I'm doing okay : )
