Music Banter's Possible Future?

Not sure if I should have put that in this forum or not, but do check it out!

I know that I and a couple of the other mods don't really know what you are trying to say here.

All I got from it was 'I have some ideas' but thats about all I got.

Feel free to expand.

Well at the end he claims he had "thoughtful thoughts."

He's very deep. TOO deep for you to understand him.

Right?

Akira 11-22-2008 02:06 PM

I think its an anti drugs advert

FaSho 11-22-2008 02:09 PM

I read it without watching the video, so I'm completley lost.

billyjerome 11-22-2008 02:14 PM

HAH! I was 100% sure no one would understand, as I was very high.

But give me a couple moments to get my thoughts arranged and sensible. This CAN work. I will post them under my Music Journal.

DearJenny 11-22-2008 02:16 PM

The video does help. He's more or less talking about taking this from a "banter" forum to a blog. And taking it global and pimping it out and making us all famous and possibly make some money off of our thoughts.

billyjerome 11-22-2008 02:18 PM

Kinda...but I'm trying to focus more on the 'community knows best' idea.

DearJenny 11-22-2008 02:20 PM

Yeah, which makes complete sense to me. I trust my peers more than I do the news.

billyjerome 11-22-2008 02:35 PM

I am basing this all off my personal opinion of not just the music industry of today but news publications as well.

How often do you read Rolling Stone and not agree with them on a review? ALL THE TIME!!! What I ended up doing was searching the web for a community of some sort to supply me with info and feedback about anything music. Music Banter has the potential to become THE source for music in general, reviews, guitar tabs, interviews...just like any other music publication. Except, the readers are writing it.

billyjerome 11-22-2008 03:14 PM

Alright, check out my Journal. I added more specific details.

lucifer_sam 11-22-2008 08:47 PM

I already use this as a better source of objective opinion than any shit-laden music media publication. But I don't understand what you want to happen.

Album reviews? We already do those.

billyjerome 11-22-2008 08:51 PM

Apparently I'm having issues relaying my thoughts. I apologize for that. I attempted to elaborate some more so check it out once it's approved.

A neat thing to include would be average ratings of new albums in the New Releases Rating Forum.

Fruitonica 11-22-2008 10:23 PM

Eh, I can't see this really working. The thing that makes Musicbanter such a great source of music is that you recognise the person giving the review or recomendation. You can form an idea about their music tastes and whether they fit with your own.
Once you start to try and push the content on to other people besides members of the community it isn't going to become any more useful than a regular music publication, because only a small percentage of readers would actually decide to become further involved in the community.

An excellent point.

I also enjoy open forums because it affords people that aren't journalism majors opportunity to express their opinions. In a blog atmosphere, it's almost impossible to carry people's interest unless you're a fantastic writer.

MusicBanter is fine as it is. There are already great, well-written album reviews and the Members Journal section is pretty much almost like reading a zine.

Hey I only just arrived at the doorstep here a couple of days ago and i am very much enjoying it! I've been posting around the place for a good eight years, at various sites on various topics - so far the posters here seem genuinely welcoming and there seems to be a good range of topics/ ideas available to post on... very good indeed! Keep up the great work moderators! :-)
