Spam and all it's lovely permutations

There has been another recent upsurge in spam across the boards and MB want to clarify what we constitute as spam.

1. Posting one word/sentence posts to reach 15 and therefore clickable links is easily identified and ultimately, futile.

2. Making any post within your first five where you either 'promote' tour dates or releases is invariably seen as using MB as free advertising space.

3. First posts consisiting of album reviews of new or relatively unknown bands will always arouse suspicion.

4. My space ad's from members with 15 posts or less.

5. Any clickable links in your signature UNLESS either RYM/ Last. fm or any other personal media collections. All other sig links are at moderators discretion.

6. Posting reams and reams of lyrics and/or poetry without any other contribution to the site.

Any of these items seen upon the board will invariably be seen as spam and deleted as such. Whilst this may be seen as particulary bullish, we are only thinking of the site and want to maintain a decent quality and quantity of entertaning and enlightening threads.

Completely agree and that goes for all spam.
spam is spam is spam.
If Ray Davies himself came on here promoting his own material, it will be deleted.
If a member comes here with no intention other than promoting his, or their, particular favourite band with no indication of joining the community on a wider scale, it will be construed as spamming and will be dealt with accordingly.

I don't know why, but I find it really amusing that Ray Davies was chosen for that example.

Here's hoping that actually happens some day because it would be the most hysterically funny thing ever.

Just because fate doesn't always do its research and gets confused kind of easily and, yes, has even accidentally left the oven on all day a couple of times doesn't mean it's not testing you.
