Temporary Bannings
 

Cory, Darkest Hour and Mirrorballs have been banned for 2 weeks as from now.
The Unfan also got 2 weeks for being an Unfunny CAPTAIN CAVEMAN.

After 4 years of moderating these boards I think I know when things are getting out of hand. Never before have I logged onto MusicBanter knowing that the major topic of discussion here will almost certainly revolve around 3 particular members.
The bannings are only temporary and all 4 memberships will be reinstated when the 2 weeks are up.

I know there will be some opposition to this decision, but there's no pleasing some people and I'm not moderating MB to be popular.

Feel free to comment, but lets not forget this is predominantly a music forum and not a Internet chat room.

now i do understand why this was done. but think about how they must feel. Ex: mirrorballs was working on his thread which was mostly respected even by the mods then he gets blocked and has no idea why. just because conversation revolves around someone doesn't mean they should be punished. that's like saying because people are talking about obama so he should be shot. or that because a girl got popular from singing her dad should punish her.

i only posted this so you'd understand why there would be opposition

there's no discussion of music in this thread or the one under and above it. these "Conversations" you speak of are not in the music forums it is in the lounge which literally says "Off-Banter" meaning we do not need to discuss music particularly but i guess that's wrong sorry must've been a typo there. (Sarcasm, you got love it there ain't no refunds)

We gave plenty of warning about this. It's not like we just suddenly acted out of the blue.

Just look at the 'Spill Your Guts' thread. 3 times in the past few days that thread has needed a clear up. All those times we asked people not to spam it and yet people ignored those requests and carried on filling it up with crap.

We're not pissing around here, we were forced into taking action by the people who use this site in the proper way who's enjoyment was being ruined by a bunch of idiots.

You all know the situation so now none of you have any excuse.

my music banter experience was never "Ruined" and everyone else i see posting don't seem to have a "ruined" experience if you had a "Ruined" experience that means there's no point in continuing the experience. so most people who had a so-called "Ruined Experience" would have simply stopped posting.

The people's who's experience was 'ruined' were the people sending myself , R-T , Jackhammer , Sleepy Jack , Toretorden & all the other mods PM's complaining about certain individuals, Reporting ridiculous posts & thread and basically making comments that certain people were spoiling the forum.

And why should they stop posting? They're the ones that contribute the most to the site. If you want all the best posters to stop posting because a few idiots were unjustly treated and should be allowed to post whatever they want, you my friend are looking on the wrong forum.

I spent literally half an hour cleaning that thread up, didn't log on for a day to come back to more pages of inane crap. The shoutbox is there to talk bollocks people.

But yea, I don't see what the debate is.. Moderators are moderators because they DON'T have to agonize through a democracy of conflicting opinions regarding enforcing the clearly stated rules around here.

Perpetrators get warned adequately and when they don't comply, they're dealt with. End of story.
