I`m Full Of Ideas Today

OK please explain something to me

How come you need/needed (I don`t know if it`s still the case) 50 posts to get an avatar and yet you can join up on this site , advertise your band for free straight away & then bugger off again.

I think there should be a rule saying you have to post a certain amount before you can start threads . maybe something like 20 or 30 posts.

At least that way you don`t get newbies spamming the place without using the search function & also it gets rid of people who only sign up to this site who make one post to plug their ****ty bands & then bugger off again.

Just a though

I actually think that's a great idea, because I'm sick of deleting promotion spam all over the boards, then banning whoever did it. Take it up with gregb, since he's the head admin and would be the one to implement something like that.

riseagainstrocks 03-30-2005 07:06 PM

i second or third rather this idea

Tommyrocker 06-07-2005 12:48 PM

Im just bumping this thread so no1 forgets.

I fourth!!

phoenixflames 06-08-2005 06:16 AM

I would agree with the idea, but I say make them wait till 50 posts. I think it would also help people get more acustomed to the board so maybe, just maybe, there wouldn't be so many duplicate posts and worthless threads.

shandapanda 06-08-2005 08:44 AM

yeah i agree, i think you should wait for 50 posts too! that's even better!

EDGE 06-10-2005 08:53 PM

Do it up.

.angie. 06-10-2005 08:57 PM

but if they can't make threads until they make a certain amount of posts, then they can't introduce themselves.. not that many of them do. but still. eh, i agree though. it's rediculous when ONE new person comes and they start a whole new wave of blink-182 and green day threads. it needs to be stopped.

pastor of muppets 06-10-2005 09:10 PM

the introductions forum doesnt really do much... i agree with the idea and fifteenth it or whatever it is now....

.angie. 06-10-2005 09:13 PM

like it matters what we say, no mods ever come on here anymore. so IF it does happen, it'll take a long time.

phoenixflames 06-10-2005 10:05 PM

Well, I think its possible to set it up to where they would have permissions to start threads in Introductions, but not anywhere else. I know I can do that kinda stuff on my message board...

pastor of muppets 06-11-2005 05:33 AM

well i think that we should just keep bumping this thread so people keep remembering it and when a mod does come on they will see it...

has a mod seen it yet......
if not *bump*

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-12-2005 01:06 PM

But I have seen it.

Oops I forgot i`m not a mod yet.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-12-2005 05:40 PM

this is a great idea. except i think it should be 100 posts before you can make threads. this way people will have the fact that we dont like stupid threads pounded into their head and by the time they are aloud to, they know better than to make yet another blink 182 thread.

Trauma 06-12-2005 06:12 PM

No, I think 75 is good.
*excuse me*

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-12-2005 06:32 PM

yeah 75 would probably be sufficient. it just has to be enough so that it takes a little while before they can make threads

.angie. 06-12-2005 06:45 PM

then at least they'd know the forums and know how to use the searching thing. they shouldn't be able to make random threads until they know they're staying for longer than a day.
