Looking For Ratings Forum Feedback

The ratings forum is a bit of a quiet locale, and could potentially be used as a greater resource than it is.

Would you find it helpful if this forum were updated with ratings threads on a more frequent basis? Do the threads in this forum influence whether or not you listen to an album? Would you like to see a greater quantity of information inside these threads, including tracklists, release dates, genres, and reviews (by site members, or outside sources)? Does this forum alert you to new releases you weren't aware were out?

Thanks for responding in advance! If the interest is there, it could be worthwhile to increase the activity of this forum.

Absolutely not. I used to be more active in that part of the forum, and it kinda blew. I don't imagine inundating the forum with lots of new, empty polls is going to contribute much to the overall discourse of knowledge here.

I'd like to see people actually review the album if they elected to start a new thread; for that matter, I don't see any problem with adding polls to existing reviews. It's just the idea of tabulating empty opinions that I find somewhat repulsive.

To be honest I don't really see much need for the New Release Ratings Forum. It would make a bit more sense to merge it with the Album Reviews forum and if anyone wants to add an album rating poll along with their review they will be more than free to do so. A lot of the threads in the ratings forum contain very little content or opinion about the album other than an album cover and tracklisting sometimes and I don't see much of interest in the forum.

On the other hand perhaps better guidelines for the forum should be laid out to encourage people to include more content and make for a more interesting forum.

So either:

A) Its uselessness should be improved upon or
B) We should get rid of it altogether.

I'm not sure if we can do B, but the worst case scenario with A is that it remains as vapid and useless a section as it is now.
