And I was very late to this party, stupid time zones.

Damnit. Well I guess this separates the loyal members from the douchebags.

You utter, utter bastards. Now what am I going to do with the registered domains "penisbanter" and "vulvadiscourse" .net?

i really have no idea of "loyalty" and "solidarity"

so is this real or not?

are they gonna revamp the place to make it more "family-oriented"?

are they sacking the mods?

Unknown Soldier 04-04-2012 06:07 AM

Now that the whole thing has been revealed, there is still one loose end here. Did Urban actually lose his job in real life? As this is what kicked off the whole thing, I guess he didn't but just thought I'd ask.

Shit man, what are the chances of getting a new one? As I know you're on the Channel Islands where jobs are going to be more limited unless you're in the banking industry.

Even more limited now that the whole mail order industry has been shut down here.

So will you go back to mainland Blighty, stay there or look in another country?

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-04-2012 06:17 AM

I was never from the mainland, all my friends & family are here.

I guess it depends how desperate I get.

Sorry to hear about this mate, it's good to see you're keeping your good humor in spite of things.

There's always room in the U.S., even if you hate our culture.

Well, this was as funny as my left shin. Was it really necessary to go to such lengths to get admittedly deserved praise?

Howard the Duck 04-04-2012 06:43 AM

it just unleashed massive vitriol of Titanic proportions

We didn't do anything for praise, we just wanted the forum to have a laugh.

lol. I wasn't expecting any kind of praise. At best I was expecting people to have a good laugh.

Well maybe I'm the only one, but I thought it wasn't funny in the least. It droned on for far too long and it was far too easy a joke to make, not to mention that you did only stop it when people were begging for the moderator team to stay and what not.
I'm not supremely offended or anything, but it seemed like some people were genuinely agonising over this and you just kept kicking it up a notch when it was never funny to begin with.

Actually, we specifically planned on last night ahead of time because a bunch of people were all going to be available at the same time. No one was sitting around going, "let's wait until people praise us in some way and then we'll do it."

Sorry if you didn't think it was funny. We were just trying to provide a little entertainment.

Uh-oh, we weren't up to the standards of Howard the Duck. That's pretty upsetting.

I may have exaggerated with the whole praise thing, but it seemed a bit likely that in a time when people are seemingly taking what the mods do for granted and thinking the forum seems to be somehow losing quality, the mods would want to pull people together somehow. It would have been an awful way to do it.

As it is I think this was ridiculously unfunny, but other people seem to have found it entertaining, so I guess to some degree you accomplished your goal.

Is this a time when people have been taking the mods for granted? I actually think things have been great lately. Now if this had gone down around this time last year maybe you'd have a point, but of course none of us would have wanted to do it during a time when we thought people would get upset about it.

As for whether it was funny or not, I guess that's just down personal taste. You can't please everyone unfortunately.

Goofle 04-04-2012 08:28 AM

I personally couldn't care less about it, but it was a very well played April Fools joke. Props.

Howard the Duck 04-04-2012 08:33 AM

i can only feel relieve now

no revamp?

You were just saying yesterday how things were boring around here and how you welcomed change, were you not?

Sansa Stark 04-04-2012 08:50 AM

I dont really think the joke is funny but good on you guys for trying to give us entertainment.

I lovez u mod doods!

midnight rain 04-04-2012 08:51 AM

I thought it was kind of amusing, even if it made me and a bunch of other members look like asses in the process.

Howard the Duck 04-04-2012 09:03 AM

for whatever it's worth, even as a joke, it did bring up some valid points

moderation is cliquey

some new changes might be exciting

Alfred 04-04-2012 09:21 AM

I think the funniest part of all of this is imagining how much the mods were lol'ing in their mod cave during the sh!tstorm.

Howard the Duck 04-04-2012 09:26 AM

opening up the mod cave sounded like an interesting idea as well

Sansa Stark 04-04-2012 09:40 AM

is rayshreddz Burning Down? cause I think that avy is Falco!

It's a star, baby. It has that wow factor, that bizang bazzoom the audiences love. Let it sign a contract with me and I'll turn it from a second rate vertebrate bone into a word class comedy hero.

What do ya say, baby? We have a deal?
