Music History Graph

Hey Guys,
This is my first time posting in this forum and I don't know how much attention I will get, but I hope for the best.

I just had an idea spinning around in my head recently. I've come across a few graphs that tried to explain music history and musicstyle history, but they usually covered just a small part of music history and didn't look all that nice.
So I got the idea of making my own music history chart. One that really goes over pretty much all of popular music history. I was thinking about a wiki sort of thing where there would be short bios to each band and musical style, and all of it would be displayed on a big chart with differently colored arrows that would vary in size and direction to show the popularity and "stylistic movements"

I just wanted to ask if there maybe is something like that already out there and if not:
Do you think this would somehow work? I know music history is extremely hard to grasp and none of it is truely objective, but can it work anyway?
Would anybody have any ideas on how to do it or even be ready to help?

This is the closest I can think of to a site that touches on this idea.

Welcome! - Rate Your Music

The closest it gets is when you view genre breakdowns, it organizes a chronological history of releases within that genre. The definitions of each genre and which albums fall under it are all voted on by users of the site, which seems like a reasonable way to do things.
