Album Club Poll Options/ Ideas

I was thinking about a format for an album club to maybe make it a little more dynamic than the nominate > vote > review cycle. Something along the lines of members nominating albums whenever they feel like it and adding it to an ongoing poll where people can vote on as many nominated albums as they wish. Basically whenever an album gets a minimum number of votes (ie. maybe 3 votes besides the person who initially nominated it) the album is taken out of the poll and gets a review thread.

So any opinions? More importantly is it even doable software wise with vBulletin?

The polls don't function in a way that would make this a practical suggestion. When a new option is added to a poll, nobody who has previously voted can select the new option. The entire poll would have to be reset, every option manually re-entered, every time someone suggested an album. Every time you reset a poll, you reset all the votes as well, so there would be no way to keep the poll in constant rotation, as well as keeping tabs on the votes.

It`s an interesting idea, but from what Pedestrian says, you`d probably have to put the nominations in an opening post, then edit and re-edit the post as new votes and nominations came in.
Alternatively, have you seen how Trollheart`s Prog Wars thread works ? When someone posts a vote, they re-quote the running total of votes with their one added on. It`s a very neat system, but of course it`s only between two albums, so it`s easy to do.
My guess is that your idea might intrigue people, but the amount of contributions you actually get would chiefly depend on the genre you are focusing on.

(The FAIR club, of course, is a shameless copy of tore`s pioneering PFAC; if you have any interest in changing its format, you`d be very welcome, stp ! :) )

PFAC was actually the club I was interested in reviving as it's a neglected area of personal interest. I'm still mulling over format ideas though, hence this thread. I guess I want to make it a little more dynamic to try and encourage those with a more casual interest to make occasional contributions and get some sort of positive feedback or immediate gratification. I imagine some people might get excited about a particular album that fits a genre but might not feel like they know enough to jump into an album club.

I guess my only gripe with the FAIR club would be some guy named fazstp having three different nominations in the current poll. I heard he's a bit of a thread killer. You'd probably boost your numbers if you kicked him out of the club ;)

 Yeah, that guy is such a nuisance ! Actually, I keep hoping that he`ll illegally open multiple accounts so it looks like the club has more than two members !
