So what if I get sentimental and like things that're said/typed to me.

Oh it's okay! I was just wondering how you managed to see deleted posts but that's not the case I see.

The only posts that have been deleted in the lounge that I know of were done by the owner of the site because of complaints from google.

If you want to argue with him about it feel free.

What do Google complain about? I'm intrigued.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-27-2013 06:30 AM

Pictures of dead bodies & porn.

Although their definition of porn seems to be a picture of large woman in a short skirt taken from behind with no nudity whatsoever involved.

That's what was in my post that got deleted anyway.

Stephen 06-27-2013 08:29 AM

I wouldn't have thought Google would care. I guess it's related to sponsor objections.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-27-2013 08:42 AM

To stay on their first page in a search and to run their ads we have to follow their rules.

djchameleon 06-27-2013 08:42 AM

If you want to maintain a certain rating with Google then you have to not have certain things

Stephen 06-27-2013 08:46 AM

Ah yes. Their mysterious ranking system. Where did I put my tin foil hat?

I think we're starting to get the hang of it.

Paedantic Basterd 06-27-2013 09:15 AM

The admins have only interfered once since I signed up, and it was for something truly inappropriate. I doubt they'd ever even blink at 95% of our postings.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-27-2013 09:37 AM

And last week

Paedantic Basterd 06-27-2013 09:43 AM

Oh? Jeez. What was that warning for?

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-27-2013 09:54 AM

Some """Pornographic"""" posts were removed from 'The Negative Effects of Porn' thread ironically.

Hot

And not from the NSFW thread, where we post full nudity under spoilers?

Obviously they were deleted, but what was the gist of these posts?

Mojo 06-27-2013 10:49 AM

A few little things about this thread have me confused. Personally I think we should feel free to express ourselves here but I'd also expect users to understand that there are often cases where, for whatever reason, content will be deleted.

It's often deleted for reasons of personal insult but we also have to consider potential offense to other users (and please remember guests as well), we have to consider preserving a thread that has become derailed from its original OP which again is simply considering those users who would want to visit that thread to read and discuss the original OP and we wouldnt be doing our job properly if that thread was cluttered with huge amounts of content that had nothing to do with it, and also there are reasons such as keeping the content strictlly in line with our rules and guidelines and if we dont, then yes, we may get a slap on the wrist from the admins. Basically if the admins arent happy, this site could suffer or cease to exist. I'd delete anything I felt cause be a serious concern.

Basically my point is your post could have been deleted for several reasons, and sometimes the fact it was banter between friends doesn't necessarily mean it was a mistake to delete it. It's probably natural to feel offended when you see a post you made, or a post that was directed at you, has been deleted. It's probably natural to feel that a mod has made a decision on your behalf that what you posted was offensive or harmful, but these are not the only reasons we would have to delete a post.

Now, I am not offering any of these things as an explanation for why the posts detailed in this thread have been deleted. The thing is, I can't do that, and no mod can do that, because nobody has shared with us what the posts were, which forum they were in, which threads they were in etc. We can't have a look for you without this information really. I'm just giving my own, personal point of view and offering suggestions that you may not have previously considered, in hope that you understand a little better about how we may operate when it comes to deleting certain content.

What I can do is ask you to PM me if you would like to share this information and I will have a look. I might not be able to offer an explanation for you as to why they were deleted, as I may not have been the one to delete it. But I will at least have a look for you, if its something you feel this concerned about.

CrazyVegn 06-27-2013 12:34 PM

This is what I saved bc it excited me:

8:37 PM
"It doesn't crack me up. I despise your posts with every fiber of my being."

I was hoping for more, but I realize a normal person, uninvolved, should/would delete that.

 :p:

Janszoon erased this post by me early today:

"For three days I could read everything - I just couldn't post."

from this thread:

http://www.musicbanter.com/announcem...ml#post1338958

Why?

Mojo 07-03-2013 11:27 AM

I would imagine he has deleted it because that post isn't relevant to that thread. Its off-topic.

Paedantic Basterd 07-03-2013 11:30 AM

The subscription thread really only ought to be used for forum events, updates, and news anyways or its entire purpose is totally defeated.

Actually I haven't deleted anything by her at all. Not sure where she's getting that from.

Trollheart 07-03-2013 04:55 PM

And how would she know who erased it anyway?

CrazyVegn 07-03-2013 05:06 PM

^He was online last night when it disappeared so I thought him. Now I'm looking for a Michael Jackson thread that was made yesterday or the day before in General Music and it's gone...

Chances are, there is already a Michael Jackson thread (This is sarcasm, of course there is a Michael Jackson thread in a music forum). So if someone made another one, it may have been merged with the existing if there were a considerable amount of posts and/or quality of content, or closed if not. We generally don't delete duplicate threads, but simply close them and link to the original thread.

This is all very standard forum procedure even at other forums. If anyone needs help with the search function, please let us know.

there is an option to not show up on the online list so it could have been someone else.

CrazyVegn 07-03-2013 05:52 PM

The post made an exit not quite as complicated as this:

Trollheart 07-03-2013 07:09 PM

Just being online is not sufficient evidence that a mod deleted a post. You'd need something more than that. Other mods could have been online too. Or, it could have been one of these...

There's been a lot of assumptions lately about which mod has deleted what posts. People are better to just ask in this thread. But we can't guarantee that we will be able to tell you who because we work as a team and there's usually a good reason for deleting said post.

So do you guys have like, mod secret meetings every once in awhile and establish different ways on improving the site? Or have any of you mods (if that's your real name) actually ever met each other? Can I be a mod? Is there a mod audition or like a mod sign up sheet?

Yeah we do actually, recently we have discussed ways of improving the site! I have met one of the previous mods but that's it! I have two in particular that I plan on meeting when I go to the UK. ;)

You can definitely put your name forward when we decide more mods are needed! I certainly could see you as one. :D
