Feature Request : Timestamps for Shoutbox

The shoutbox should have timestamps so that it is easy to see when the last message was posted. You see timestamps in the shoutbox history, but not when looking at the forum index. If you don't know what a timestamp is, it should basically look something like this :

11:08 tore: A small timestamp on the left of the message that tells you when it was posted.

I assume there is a setting for it that only needs turning on. Could Yac look into this for us?

If this is possible, I second this request.

Would be nice, other forums have this. It's not a huge deal though because it takes two seconds to look in the archive. Timestamps are more of a convenience than anything else.

12:05 While you wait you could just do it yourself

13:06 That becomes a little troublesome as time is relative and we live in different timezones.

Urban Hat€monger ? 07-11-2013 05:08 AM

12:07 PM BST I don't see that being a problem

Burning Down 07-11-2013 05:11 AM

7:11 am EDT Yeah we can totally put in our own timestamps.

Urban Hat€monger ? 07-11-2013 05:13 AM

12:13 PM BST I have set the ball in motion.

10:26pm AEST I usually click to expand the shoutbox to see the time stamp, but it would be handy as sometimes I accidentally reply to something someone said hours ago :)

32:48 We asked once and I'm pretty sure they said no anyways.

Star date 309475.5467402333: I believe Pedestrian is right.

Paedantic Basterd 07-11-2013 11:08 AM

I am however, in support of having all forum timestamps switched to the Star Date.

You have more than 24 hours in a day out there? Woah.

Can you remember why it was a no?

.. Slightly related, I remember asking for Edit, Quote, etc. buttons that didn't have the white edge around them (check the ugly border of the "Post Reply" button top left on this page) and had prepared the pictures so that all that needed doing was uploading to the right folder. It would only make the buttons slightly prettier, but even that got a no :p: They run a tight ship!

I don't ever remember us asking for shoutbox timestamps, could have been when I wasn't a mod though.

No, I'm afraid not. For the vast majority of requests we've made, the denials have come back with little or no explanation.

EDIT: It may have been a shoutbox report-post button I'm thinking of. Either way, I'm pretty sure it was around the time we banned Dirty that we discovered just how many extra tools we could use.

Whats wrong with the current system? Click on the link, see when it was written, carry on.

Frankly, not having one seems fine. Say something and get the party started again. If you're uptight about replaying to a 5-hour old message you have too few problems.

What is this hoop-de-doo over a time stamp? Just use the hyperlink provided and thusly located above the shoutbox. Why go and bother Yac for something that is already there?

If you wonder what time someone post something then click it ->Shoutbox

It's not about that. it's about being able to see the timestamps without having to do all that extra work of clicking on another link.
