Somebody's been reading H. P. Lovecraft.

But most certainly not human. I'll provide photo proof soon enough!

(Surely there's more than one other lady here that posts regularly though..? Is Suzy Creamcheese a lady?)

Oh, look it's me! I'm not a model; the camera went off by itself.

Should have made Swamp Thing my avatar instead.

Well, I'm currently trying to plan a very simple D&D-lite type game with a Lovecraftian setting (maybe) for my nephews. So I've got Cthulu on the brain.

And if you haven't already read Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run, you totally should. Comics for mentally deranged adults and kids alike.

Isn't there already one?

I read them when I was maybe 10 or so (uh, which explains a lot I guess), so I definitely need to reread it.

^ not from the comics, obviously, but gorgeous nonetheless. (it's by by Gabriele Dell'Otto I think)

Yeah, but I'm not sure if that's the one I want to use yet. Still researching all the different game engines since my nephews have incredibly short attention spans. I'm also not positive yet whether they'd even like a Lovecraftian setting. (I'm only confident in the fact that they would like the idea of a grotesque sea monster being somehow involved) Still, though, initiating children into nerdom is an important job!

There's always the Kraken. You could try a Greek myth-themed one maybe. Just sayin'...

Love you. I still need to finish reading them though. Have you read Miracle Man btw? Nobody here seems to have and it's Alan Moore at his best. It's just wrong that it isn't as well known as Swamp Thing or Watchmen.

True! I'll have to ask them. Actually an alien-themed one may be better since they're obsessed with War of the Worlds (the original version, not the modern one)

Yeah, I don't think I ever finished them either. Haven't read Miracleman. It looks charming though! (based on a quick scroll through Google images at least.) What's it about?

...and I don't know why but I'm now suddenly getting very distressing flashbacks of those Animorphs novels.

Depends what you mean by charming. It's pretty messed up tbh. Basically a realistic take on superheroes, much like Watchmen, but with the Silver Age goofy stuff ratcheted way down. It mainly deals with the severe psychological implications of what god-like superpowers would be if given to an average human, and how the world would be transformed. But if you ever read it, when you get to the issue that warns of "graphic scenes of childbirth", it is not an idle threat.
